Ku Ding Cha is a beverage which is consumed in China as an alternative toordinary green tea. Word Ku means bitter because of its initial taste. Some 90% of Ku Ding Cha in China is from an Ilex species - mainly Ilex kudincha. Ku Ding Cha contains triterpene glycosides (saponins), polyphenols and flavonoids. Ku Ding Cha promotes blood circulation, lowers blood pressure, lowers blood lipids (including cholesterol). It is also believed that it can prevent deterioration of the heart and brain funtction and help to control body weight.
